All arrivals and departures for the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting will be at Henderson International Airport.

The Protocol Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & External Trade (MFAET) will facilitate all necessary arrangements for the arrival and departure of Heads of States or Governments, Ministers and accompanying officials for the dignitaries.

Delegations led by Heads of State or Government will be designated with appropriate Liaison Officers. On arrival at the airport, the Liaison Officers will assist a designated accompanying official with delegation luggage and facilitate necessary arrival (and departure) clearances through Immigration and Customs where applicable.

Immigration, Customs and Biosecurity advice are provided below to guide all Delegates and Participants on getting clearance at the arrivals.

For expediting a smooth entry, all Delegates and Participants are required to provide their final travel details while registering {link to “Registration” main menu page} for the Meeting as well as to the Solomon Islands Government’s Official Contact and copy the Forum Secretariat. This will ensure there is appropriate assistance at the airport to expedite a smooth entry into (and out of Honiara).

Flights

Delegates should check with their respective country travel agents to make necessary travel arrangements utilising the various key routes.

Baggage

All Delegates will be issued with special baggage identification tags for their travel to Solomon Islands for the Meeting. Upon arrival, the member of each Delegation with overall responsibility for all his or her Delegation’s baggage is asked to liaise with their respective Liaison Officers from the Solomon Islands Government at all stages of the movement of baggage from the Airport to each Delegation’s respective Hotel, and vice- versa after the Meeting’s conclusion.

Transportation

Heads of States and Governments or VVIPs will be provided with a vehicle from the Airport on arrival to their respective Hotels.

Transport will equally be available to VIPs and other participants from the Airport to their Hotels as designated by the Host Government.

Accommodation

Accommodation for 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leader Meeting will be coordinated through the accommodation subcommittee.

Heads of Forum Delegations, spouses, and one accompanying senior official will be accommodated at the Heritage Park Hotel and Coral Seas Resort.

Other meeting delegates will be accommodated at the hotels and other accommodation providers on a first come first serve basis. All reservations must be channeled through the accommodation subcommittee. Due to room shortage the accommodation committee will hold all rooms secured. Payment arrangements will be advised.

Forum Governments are requested to complete the following forms:

  1. List of Delegates Form

  2. Medical, Dietary and Dress Needs Form

  3. Media Accreditation Form

It is important that these Forms are completed and sent by 18 August 2025 to the official contact, with a copy to the Forum Secretariat.

If the names of a delegation are not known by 18 August 2025, delegations are requested to email the Official Contact and the Forum Secretariat indicating the numbers expected per delegation, including their approximate arrival and departure dates.

Hospitality

The Government of Solomon Islands will offer the following hospitality to Members for the duration of the Pacific Islands Forum and related meetings.

  1. one room for each Head of Delegation and the Pacific Islands Forum Secretary General, and accompanying spouse, inclusive of normal meals and laundry services from the date of arrival to the date of departure. Hospitality does not include international telephone calls and/or cost of alcoholic beverages;

  2. one room for an accompanying senior official.

  3. one chauffeur-driven car for each Head of Delegation. Access for the remainder of the delegation to a limited pool of cars and bus services for Forum related travel;

  4. there will be Telekom SIM cards provided inclusive of data and local calls for Heads of Delegation. Telekom sim cards will be available for delegates.

  5. Liaison Officers for each head of delegation for each forum member countries.

Bank and ATM Services

BANKS There are three main commercial banks: Australia & New Zealand Banking Group Ltd (ANZ), Bank of South Pacific (BSP) and Pan Oceanic Bank (POB) and the newest bank in town is Bred Bank, ATMs in selected locations around Honiara. Banking Hours 9am to 4pm Mondays to Fridays except Public Holidays. ANZ & BSP Bank operates ATM machines in Honiara, Auki & Gizo

Airline Services Domestic

Solomon Airlines - Fly to 22 airports around the Solomon Islands. Many services connect with international flights at Honiara

Recommended Dress Etiquette

Lightweight (cotton), casual clothing, and comfortable footwear are the usual dress worn. Occasionally, a light sweater may be handy for those rare cool nights. Bikini and other beachwear are acceptable at hotels/ resorts but not when out shopping in towns or visiting villages.

Customs (Duty Free)

200 cigarettes or 250 grams of tobacco, and or 2 litres of spirit or equivalent. Other dutiable goods ought not to exceed S$1500 for gifts or S$3000 for personal items.

Departure Tax

This is usually included in the cost of your airline ticket. (Consult your travel agent)

Climate

The Solomon Islands has a tropical climate with a year-round average temperature of about 29ºc. Drier months are May through to October. Annual average rainfall is around 2520mm.

Tipping

Not encouraged or recommended.

Time Zone

Eleven hours ahead of Greenwich mean time (GMT+11). One hour ahead of Brisbane, and one hour behind Fiji or Auckland (at non-daylight-saving time)
